Question
I have a two part question, I've been doing some research on the benefits of apple cider vinegar and have been getting mixed messages. Is it really that good for you, or does your stomach acid just digest it, and therefore it's of no benefit?
And, I have 3 children, 5, 2.5, and 6 months (nursing) if it is as good for you as it's supposed to be, is it safe to give to children, and can I take it while nursing?
Answer
Hello,
First thing, I'd like to send you a smile and a pat on the back for taking your families health into your own hands. Only you, as the mother know what is best for you and your children. It is great that you were able to find the time to do research, as I know there may not be that much free time with 3 kids those ages (I've been there my self with 5 kids age 8 to 2). We all want what is best for them.
Funny that I am asked this question here, as I was asked something similar just last week from my website. Here is the link to the article, as it may answer your question

Apple cider vinegar is of benefit to certain people. My husband and 2 of my 5 children take it to help their allergies and asthma. I discuss this in the article. I wouldn't give it to children of 5, 2.5, and 6 months. It is too harsh for them. Pickle juice is a safe alternative. You can take it while nursing, especially if you feel you may want the weight loss benefits of apple cider vinegar.
It won't effect your nursling. If you do decided to use the apple cider vinegar, buy a brand (like Braggs) that contains the 'Mother' culture, or one that has not been filtered.
Please let me know if you have any more questions. Enjoy the article and your lovely family.
Cheers,
Dr. C
