Question
Hi, do you know of a powerful (long lasting) internal remedy to take for cronic arthritus?
Answer
Hello Gene,
Thank you for your question. There are many treatment options for chronic arthritis. The treatments however depend on the type of arthritis. What this means is there is not a one cure to fix all unfortunately. If it is osteo-arthritis, ensuring you are hydrated goes along way. One consideration to this remedy though is if there is a history of high blood pressure. Increasing fluid intake does also increase blood pressure. Another option is a supplement combination of chondroitin sulfate and glucosamine. This option is not an overnight remedy. It will take a couple of weeks to notice a difference but with continued use can sustain pain relief. Before taking them however, I would recommend speaking with your primary care provider to decrease the risk of interference with any other medications you may be taking. Another option is using a heat salve on the joints such as Tiger Balm that is if the arthritis does not have heat associated with it. It can be found at most health food stores.
For rheumatoid arthritis, the above remedies would not be as effective and could potentially worsen your symptoms. It would be worth a visit to a local board certified acupuncturist for an intake and diagnosis. There are several herbal remedies that are also available for the treatment of arthritis. I would recommend seeking someone with a strong foundation in providing herbs.
I hope this has been beneficial. Should you have additional questions, please feel free to ask. I do wish you all the best. Be well.
