Question
I've chronically constipated for more than 5 years. I also follow a very low fat diet which consist in 80% raw and cooked vegetables with no oil or fats,10% fruits and 10% protein/carbs.
I though that all these veggies may help with my constipation but it doesn't. What i am doing wrong?

Thanks for your question. There amy be underlying causes for chronic constipation, such as use of some medications, GI disorders, and hypothyroidism, so these would important to rule out if you have not already done so. If they have been ruled out, then it is appropriate to try to make some dietary changes. The type of diet you describe, high in fruits, vegetables, and raw foods, is an essential component for GI health. Also recommended are high water intake, low intake of other types of vegetables, fermented foods, whole grains, and legumes. It may be that you are taking in lots of fiber, but need to diversify your idea to get more balance in the types of fiber and nutrients. I find that there is no perfect diet for every person, even if it appears like a healthy one, and once one gets on their correct diet, they have no trouble with elimination. We still can't predict what diet will work best for each person, but with some trying people can often finds what works best for them.
