Detox?

Question
Hi and happy New Year!

I am determined to go cold turkey from alcohol two months, breaking my old record (one step at a time).

I read that the herb milk thistle is supposed to clean up and restore your liver?

Last time I had a checkup Doc said liver was OK, but I do have some of the symptoms of 'fatty liver' and maybe gallstones.

I dont think I have cirrossis.

I also take 3 prescription medicines and OTC stuff for pain and sinuses.

Just as a precaution, would this herb be helpfull?

Other than that, anything else I can take supplement or nutrition wise, other than no alcohol of course, that would benefit my recovery?

I am already drinking more water and eating more fresh fruits.

Thanks!

Answer
Hi Terry,

Happy New Year, back at ya.'

Milk thistle is a great liver herb. It is also a wonderful antioxidant. And, yes take this in a formula along with Dandelion root, a wonderful blood cleanser, good for the kidneys and liver, and increases the production of bile. And Yellow Dock, that acts as a blood purifier and cleanser, and tones the entire system. Improves liver and colon function.

A thirty day supply from Swanson Health Products cost $4.99.

Parsley tea or capsules stimulates normal activity of the digestive system, I take this along with garlic when I'm detoxing. Garlic detoxifies the body and protects against infection by enhancing the immune system.

Add fresh vegetables with the fresh fruit and water.

Exercise daily.

Have a great year.

Dennis
