herbal interactions

Question
I have been taking L-Lysine for prevention of mouth ulcers/fever blisters for years.  I recently began taking Olive Leaf Extract at the suggestion of my mom, and it helps with my immune system tremendously!  I also suffer from SAD, and have taken prescription antidepressants in the past.  This year, I have opted not to take them, but would like to try St. John's Wort.  My husband has been bragging about his success with taking Ginseng for mental alertness.  My question is this: Would there be a reason not to take Olive Leaf Extract, L-Lysine, St. John's Wort, and Ginseng?  I am a very healthy 35 year old female with no known health problems, and I take no prescription drugs. I do not plan to become pregnant either.

Answer
We need to supplement our diets even if they are healty diets. But I suggest you take a look at your diet first and your water intake. For the fever blisters you should try a good antioxidant like grape seed extract.  For depression there are lots of supplements that work you just have to find the right one for you You can try the St Johns wort first and if that doesn't work Give it a few weeks or even months you can try 5 htp.  Or sam-e is good too.  Taking B complex is very helpful. Can you find a Iridologist in your area or a muscle tester who can assist you.  Jayne
