Question
Hi,
I am Karthik.
My age is 26. My height is 175 cms and my Weight is 154 pounds.
One year back my weight was 135 pounds and I started working out in gym. I started having high-protein diet (3000 calories per day, by 6 to 8 meals) along with normal protein supplements. In around 10 months I gained around 20 pounds and I my current weight is 154 pounds. But in the mean time I started growing lipoma all over my body. It?s getting more and more over my arms , thighs and lower back. I doubt whether its because of my diet or exercise. I am very much interested in body building.
I checked up with local doctors (Chennai, India) and all said that LIPOMAS don?t have any medicine. I am really worried because of the growth of lipomas. I am afraid whether they will grow more and more. I temporarily stopped all my diet and weight lifting activities. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHETHER MY LIPOMAS CAN BE CURED OR NOT ? IS THIS RELATED TO MY DIET or EXERCISE?
- My Diet was Daily around 3000 calories.
Daily 5 to 8 Egg Whites
Mostly of Non-veg (Chicken, Fish on regular basis and prawns, mutton etc ON and off)
Rice, Wheat,
Lots of Fruits and Fruit Juices and Vegetables
Pulses,
Bread & Cakes,
Along with this, Daily Three to Four glass of BODY MASS POWDER SHAKES?
- I USED TO EXERCISE AROUND 1 HOUR FOR 6 DAYS A WEEK
I temporarily stopped all my diet and weight lifting activities. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHETHER MY LIPOMAS CAN BE CURED OR NOT ? IS THIS RELATED TO MY DIET or EXERCISE?
PLSSSSSSSSSSSSS HELP ME IN THIS LIPOMA PROBLEM. I M VERY MUCH STRESSED UP BECAUSE OF THIS. THIS IS GROWING ALL OVER MY BODY.
Thanks,
karthik

Answer
Hi Karthik
I have to commend you on being so interested in taking care of your health. My best suggestion is to find someone who specializes in sports nutrition and exercise physiology if the weightlifting is your first priority.
"Lipoma" is an allopathic (mainstream medicine) diagnosis. Holistic Health would look at this more systems - wise. So alternative medicine wouldn't really look at this as cause - result. I'd look more at how can we help you have a healthy life and do what you want to do to have a happy and full life, not focus exclusively on the lipomas.
I used to do martial arts for 1-2 hours a day, six days a week, and I'm no athelete...so based on personal experience, (NOT expert opinion)...I doubt the exercise is the issue. In fact it may be keeping things from being worse.
You diet seems good...my only suggestion would be cut back on eggs and mutton and substitute more beans, lentils and maybe soy products as alternate protiens. I am working from pure memory here, but it seems to me that peanuts and soymilk together contain the amino acid precursors to growth hormone and are particularly good for maintaining muscle mass. As an internal stylist (taijiquan, ba gua, some kung fu) I needed flexibility and speed, more than muscle mass so my weightlifting was a bit different from yours, I'm guessing.
NATUROPATHY ( a natural health system that began in Germany in the 1700s) would look at this as a matter of toxins from the animal protein accumulating in the lipomas, and they might suggest a short fast or a time of shifting the emphasis from protein to include more fiber and greens for detoxification. PLEASE SEE A PRACTITIONER IN PERSON TO TRY THIS...I'm just guessing from the information you gave, the absolute BEST way to deal with this is to see someone in person. I'm just giving a few thoughts over the internet...there is NO WAY someone over the internet can really help, so seeing someone in parson is really essential.
Being in India, I would imagine you have great access to ayervedic experts...eggs and mutton and exercise are all very pitta, yes? You may have a pitta excess and an ayervedic expert might be able to help you rebalance the doshas properly...although I am guessing the end result would be the same sort of diet changes with a continuing of exercise for its benefits.
If you continue your usual exercise, but change the proportions of protein in your diet, you could see if that helps the lipomas without loosing the exercise you seem to love. If you drop a little scale weight, what is the harm of that? Isn't it better to be fit, tone and healthy at a slightly lower weight, rather than just be bulky and sick?
Of course it goes without saying that supplements like hormones, steroids, concentrated anmino acids and such would have to go...better to do it natural and healthy with your diet!
Good luck with everything!
Baihu
