Answer
Hello Taiwo,
This may or may not come as a surprise, but your cough and your bladder issues are actually related. According to Chinese Medicine there is one larger condition causing two symptoms. That condition, I would consider to be Kidney Yang Deficiency. Now let me explain:
In Chinese medicine and Ayurveda--the two oldest medical systems in the world--the Kidney system is in charge of the Bladder and indirectly the Lungs. When the kidneys are weak, there may be leakage of urine, spermatorrhea, lower back soreness, kneepain, coughing, and inability to take a deep breath (because the Kidney's can't grasp the Qi or the breath). You may not have all of these symptoms. That is sort of the shortened version of what is happening. There are two great herbal formulas, that when combined can remedy the condition. You could probably order them online. But if that is not available, I'll tell you the Latin names of the herbs, so you can see if you can find them at your local apothecary/herbshop. Herbs are listed in order of importance or greater quantity.
1) Mantis Egg-Case Powder
Ootheca Mantidis
Os Draconis
Radix Ginseng
Sclerotium Poria Cocos
Radix Polygalae Tenuifoliae
Rhizoma Acori Graminei
Honey-Fried Plastrum Testudinis
Radix Angelica Sinensis
2)Shut the Sluice Pill
Fructus Alpiniae Oxyphyllae
Radix Linderae Strychnifoliae
Radix Dioscorea Opositae
These two formulas when combined are very powerful at controlling bladder urges. Now, there can be another pathology to this condition. This condition can also be due to what we call Dampness in the Lower Region. Dampness is an excess condition, like a wet cloud in the lower abdomen. This is caused by the Spleen or digestive system being turbid or dirty and week. If your urine is overly cloudy and gray, you have a reduced appetite, and a tongue that has a thick white coating over it, with scalloped edges (or teeth marks or wave like ridges on the sides of the tongue)--then you may have bladder issues due to excessive Dampness. These two pathologies are related in a way. There is a formula that can help with this as well.
1) Poria and Cuscuta Special Pill
Semen Cuscutae Chinensis
Fructus Schisandrae Chinesis
Radix Dioscorea Opositae
Semen Nelumbinis Nuciferae
Sclerotium Poriae Cocos
Your doctor gave you antibiotics, but I don't feel it is an infectious issue. It is something that can be remedied using herbs. I hope you are able to find these formulas or order them. Good luck, and please let me know how you are doing.
Cheers,
Dr. C
