Pueraria Mirifica

Question
Why can't people with hyperthyroidism use PM?  I am 24 years old with an androgen imbalance and hirscutism and would like to find safe alternatives of treating hormone imbalance.

Answer
Hello Kenyasoweta,

Pueraria Mirifica has phytoestrogens that could elevate your condition. Hyperthyroidism occurs when the thyroid gland produces too much thyroid hormone, resulting in an overactive metabolic state.

The thyroid gland is the body's internal thermostat. It regulates the temperature by secreting two hormones that control how quickly the body burns calories and uses energy.

It is important to take a Mulivitamin and Mineral supplement.

Plus a vitamin B complex. - 50 mg 3 times daily. - Needed for thyroid function.

Brewer's yeast. - 1-3 tbsp daily. - Rich in basic nutrients, especially the B vitamins.

Essential fatty acids. - As directed on label. - Needed for correct glandular function.

Eat plenty of the following foods: Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, mustard greens, peaches, pears, rutabagas, soybeans, spinach, and turnips. These help to suppress thyroid hormone production.

Avoid dairy products for at least three months. Also avoid stimulants, coffee, tea, nicotine, and soft drinks.

The pituitary gland, parathyroid glands, and sex glands all work together and are influenced by thyroid function. If there is a problem in one place, they all may be affected.

These should be a safe alternative to treating hormone imbalances.

Best wishes,

Dennis
